Resistor Voltage Drop Calculator

A Resistor Voltage Drop Calculator is a tool used to determine the voltage drop across a resistor in an electrical circuit. When current flows through a resistor, it causes a voltage drop due to the resistance it offers to the flow of electricity. This voltage drop can be calculated using Ohm’s Law, which states that voltage (\(V\)) is equal to the product of current (\(I\)) and resistance (\(R\)), expressed as \(V = I \times R\).

Resistor Voltage Drop Formula
\[ V_d = I \times R \]

Where:

  • \(V_d\) is the voltage drop across the resistor (in volts)
  • \(I\) is the current flowing through the resistor (in amperes)
  • \(R\) is the resistance of the resistor (in ohms)

Example Calculation

Find the Resistor Voltage Drop (\(V_d\)) for a resistor with a resistance (\(R\)) of 100 ohms and current (\(I\)) of 0.5 amperes.

Using the formula:

\[ V_d = 0.5 \, \text{A} \times 100 \, \Omega = 50 \, \text{V} \]

Therefore, the voltage drop across the resistor is 50 volts.
